Altered Art

What is altered art?  For me It is a transformation or 'alteration' of ordinary, everyday objects into decorative pieces either (useful or not )using a wide variety of materials applying different techniques and such term is widely used by fellow crafters.  In upcycling and recycling you somehow destroy a bit to create another object while altered art is simply adding on =)
