Believe That There Is Hope To Be Cured!

So many events to celebrate this month of October and as far as I can remember today is International Childrens Day .... and it's the month my son will turn another year older.  Well, worldwide, we are aware that it's Breast Cancer Awareness month, Rosary Month, Psoriasis Month, Halloween, and Eve of All Souls Day.  I remember during my HS days, every October we have the La Naval procession and being part of the Glee club we were asked to sing all the way.  But it's not what I want to talk about this time ... maybe some other day.

Are you scared of cancer?  I guess ALL of us!  We do our best to stay healthy by avoiding bad habits, eating right food even going to the gym or just plain exercising.  But the way I look at it, regardless if you are a health buff or not at some point in time one will be hit by Cancer.  Both my parents died of big C and I have a feeling that my health journal here in Sweden has a red mark simply because they believe that if parents got it then surely one of the kids if not all will suffer from the same fate.  I truly thank God that every 16 months, I'm being called to have mammogram.  I remember it started when I turned 40 then after 2 years have to do it again and my last mammogram was early this year and I was informed that I have to do it again after 16 months due to my age.  Every night when I go to bed, I wait for my son to fall asleep and when he is sleeping I stare at him and kiss him until I get tired hahahaahhahahahahaha.  As I stare at him, I ask God to allow me to see my son grow up ... successful with his career and other activities ... get married .... the chance to hug, carry, travel and play with my grandchildren ... and of course live long free from major illnesses/diseases together with my hubby.  I don't know what God's plans are for me but he knows my heart's desire and I believe he will allow me.  I can only hope and believe while I do my best to stay healthy.  Yup, it's not easy but everyday I just have to exert an effort.

Having said that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I actually wonder why specifically breast cancer" instead of Cancer Awareness Month.  A lot of people are suffering from big C not only breast, right?  It's the month where I see a lot of pink pushing.  I'm not a pink person so I never buy pink ribbons during this month or any given month.  Some people would give a lot of donations for cancer groups but reality check only a few percentage goes to the project and that's a fact.  Heniweys, I made an art journal page last 25 March 2012 dedicated to all cancer victims who are undergoing medications, chemo, etc.  as well as the family of victims.

In my heart I believe there's hope and cure for cancer.  I pray that tomorrow is that day!  Better yet I pray that there will be NO cancer at all!

Inside the pocket is a letter to God which I refuse to show since it's too personal =)
Note:  MÖJLIGT means Possible in english

Cards for Cancer Patients

When we were in Marbella, Spain, last summer, a fellow crafter from Central America asked me if I can make cards for cancer patients. I said YES but unfortunately along the way we had miscommunication with regards to address and details. I was waiting and waiting for a very important message from her but I never got any ... and so I thought.  She did emailed me but it went straight to spam folder.  Lesson I learned:  I need to check my spam folder, too, from time to time.

Last Friday, on my way home I felt so heavy in my heart coz I was not able to make any cards at all :( I contacted her immediately and asked when is the deadline and said that all cards from all over the world should be in by 1st week of October since October is the month we honor cancer patients and victims. I worked so hard until midnight of Friday just to finish all the 10 cards and envies then the next day I had to write something inside each card which was very difficult for me coz both my parents died of cancer.  I sent the package Sunday morning just in time for the main post box will be emptied.

A Day To Remember

I don't know if I will be able to express well how I feel right now but one thing for sure it will last the whole day.  The title itself "A Day To Remember" is so broad for me due to so many thoughts in my mind and only one emotion : sadness :(

We all know that October is a month celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness.  When I got my mammography schedule yesterday which I hope you have read my entry  then you guys know the fear inside me.  I was not able to sleep tight last night because I was thinking of my mom.  You see, she died of breast cancer :(  She was diagnosed on a 4th degree level already so they couldn't do anything anymore but she was given series of chemotherapy which only helped her die fast ... i guess.  Since we were just waiting ...yeah the waiting game will drive one crazy ... she was at our home for a month with open lungs and heart and only a tube was inserted so that impurities will flow out.  Why?  She's diabetic and asthmatic so it complicated her case more.

How come it was diagnosed too late?  FEAR is the answer.  My mom is so scared for check-ups and no matter what we do she gets to escape pretty fast.  I will never forget the day we had a mother-daughter talk on her death bed.  She told me to go through mammography test and I should not be scared like she was for check-ups.  She admitted it was her fault all because of fear.  I never blamed her if I may say.  The sad part is that she died only at 58 years old ... very young and full of life ... then the next day she lost weight, hair. and does not want to eat beacuse it's so painful to swallow.

Yes mom, I will go to my scheduled mammography next month for I know you will be beside me ... as always.

Here's a quick card I made early this morning:

until then......

The Time of the Year I Fear Most - Mammography :(

The day started out just fine inspite of the wind that bites under 4 degrees C this day.

Spending few hours with dear friends at Facebook ... laughing ... teasing ....thinking with each other.

Then came lunch and I ate Roast Beef with Rice and Onion Chili Sauce which was so hot that I had to scramble 2 eggs so I can finish my food ... and of course boiled broccoli on the side.  It was a hearty lunch indeed.

After lunch I went out and checked our postbox.  Haist!, I got a schedule for mammography this coming November :(  Eeeewwwww how I hate the process!

It was just last year when I had one and I believe it's once a year now and not every 2 years.

Well, I can't avoid it coz it's for my own good, right?

Anyway, here's the card I made few minutes after I read my schedule for mammography :

When was the last time you had your mammography?

Thanks for the visit =)

until then.......
