Arranging My Craft Pins

Do you ever use craft pins in your paper crafting?  I seldom use it but I have few sets and it's just scattered somewhere in my craft room.  I was able to gather a few and so I took an antique coffee cup from the basement.  I believe the cup is from my husband's grandmother and it's the only one so instead of throwing it I might as well use it for this project.

 It's a very simple way for me to organize my few craft pins and I have to put it somewhere visible in my craft room.  Besides, I don't want to waste my money in buying a pin cushion ... I'd rather save the money and buy a craft tool someday.  Hoping to use it from time to time =)

Trial : Customizing My paper and Fabric Flowers

Sorry ladies but I'm just enjoying my home-made glimmer mist.  Obviously I'm in awe how successful it turned out to be that I 'm so eager to use it in many different ways.

Customizing my fabric and paper flowers was kind'a hard for me to push through with the idea coz I was worried that I will just waste time and money just in case I ruin the flowers.  Yeah, but what the heck!  In my mind if I ruined the flowers then I will just buy and try again or buy and never try again hahahahahahahahaha.

Luckily it turned out just fine and will customize more if the need arises.

Here are the Before and After flowers:

I.  These off-white paper flowers are from Kort & Godt Hobby AS and I bought it one scrapbook store here in Uppsala.  I just spritz some of my home-made glimmer mist and that's it.

II.  These flowers are from Panduro and it's made of fabric.  Although after spritzing my glimmer mist and let dry, the flowers already shimmers but I still dab stickles afterwards to give more glitz.

Ok goodnight everyone!  This is my last hurrah for this beautiful Sunday and hopefully will be able to upload some things I make everyday.  I just have no time right now to create cards, stamping, digital or traditional scrapbooks, or albums or whatever coz I'm simply playing with the materials and tools I have.  Crossing my fingers that after this week regardless if I have work, I will be able to show you some real creations and not craft recipes or tutorials hahahahahahahahaha.

A Crimper and A Paper = Textured Leaves

Anywhere I look at internet I find all kinds of flower making so for this blog I would like to talk about leaves.

Thanks to my little boy who gave me this idea!

Joseph was playing with all my crimpers last night and he finds the teddy bear and hand paper crimpers really cute but one thing that caught my attention was when he started cutting his crimped papers into different shapes. Since the only paper crimper he can't use in my craft room is the normal crimper that produces lines - wellpapp effect, I took it and experimented on making leaves.

It's nice to make leaves from time to time coz making flowers is just overboard nowadays hahahahahahahahahaha.  Oh but trying to make paper flowers will not stop me and so excited to post my take on making flowers =)

This project is sssssssssssooooooooooo easy so let's start!

My paper crimper is small so I cut 2 inches x 6 inches of cardstock and folded it lengthwise.

Place your cardstock diagonally in your paper crimper and start crimping.

This is how it will look like after crimping your cardstock.   Now, cut shapes of folded leaves.

Open ..... and there you have your leaves =)

Glittery Brads

While in Denmark visiting a fellow crafter, I played with her ordinary office brads since she has big bottles of glitters.  Few have asked how i do such altering and so on today's post I will discuss how it's being done.

Materials:

Plain office brads
Different colors of glitters
White strong glue
Small paint brush
Decoupage lack
Hard foam (to hold the brads during drying time)

Procedure:

1.  Dip a brad on your strong glue or pour a glue on the top of the brad.
2.  Sprinkle glitters and let dry for at least overnight.
3.  When it's dry, apply decoupage lack to make sure that glitters are really glued tight.
4.  Enjoy using your brad's!

Note:  Another way to color your brads is to use alcohol inks =)

My Home-Made Glimmer Mist

I have always wanted to buy home-made glimmer mist but it's expensive especially if you buy different shades.  I was so determined to buy few bottles but a fellow crafter here in Uppsala informed me that she makes her own using perfect pearls and water.  Instead of buying I opted to try but first I bought those empty traveling spray bottles then took out my one and only perfect pearls from my drawer which I bought few weeks ago.

Before starting my day project, I browsed at internet and check out exactly on how to do it.  All the same - just mix it with water but then I have to bear in mind that perfect pearls don't have binder as compared to pearl-ex.  With the binder, the glitter will not brush off.  Darn!  I can't find pearl-ex here in Sweden :(  Alas!  I read that one can use the hairspray itself or use a glue which once again the brand is not available here in Sweden.  I don't even remember the brand right this moment.

Anyway, since I'm taking few minutes break from the birthday invitations ordered by a sweet client, I decided to make glimmer mist one in water and one using hairpsray.  This way I will know the difference and check which I like most.

Procedure:
Prepare all the materials needed
Fill bottle spray with water (half-filled or less)
Few drops of reinker or food coloring (depending on the brightness of the color you want to achieve)
Using an ice cream stick, take a scoop of the perfect pearls
Blend well by shaking side-to-side


Let's talk about using the water first :

Empty traveling spray bottle half-filled with water

Perfect Pearls - Gold

Reinker - midnight blue

Hhhmm, I added 10 drops of reinker and the shade is lightest blue I've ever seen but the glitter is visible

Now let's see the effect using hairspray:

Mind you I had to open the top of the hairspray just so I can get the liquid.  I don't use hairspray but I got this accidentally several months ago and I've never used it.Since I don't want to use my few reinkers, I used food coloring instead. I added 6 drops of food coloring.

Ooooohhhhhh  I love the visibility of the color blending with the gold glitter effect from perfect pearls

And here are the first batch of my home-made glitter mist.  Both effects I like but if I ran out of hairpsray I can always use water in making my own glimmer mist.  Before using your home-made glimmer mist, swirl it first.  Will do more glimmer mist when I'm done with the invitations I'm making for a client =)

Hand-Made Photo Corners

Woot! Woot! This month of March is our month!!! According to my friend, Joan, it is the month were new products in the name of crafting is being introduced and that means there will be more tools and materials that we can all drool over hahahahahahaha.

I promised my friend that I will create anything as in anything everyday for the whole month of March 2009. I hope I can keep up with it coz my life is ssssssssssssoooooooooooooo busy ... as always ... who isn't hahahahahahahahaha.

Now for my first entry, I have a tutorial for all of us :D I learned this from my 5 year old son and it's awesome.

OK, we all know that craft items are very expensive but for those of us who wants a photo corner but couldn't find or maybe not on the top list of our wishlist, here is an alternative in making photo corners that adds pizzazz on a layout :D I know that some would buy a colorless photo corners and paint it but I have no time to paint and dry so I think hand-made photo corners are faster and easier plus it can match the background paper of a layout :D


These are strips of small paper I had when I tried to cut a middle portion of a card I was making.


Take one piece coz you have to this one at a time and it depends on how many you need :D


Fold one side this way ... as seen in picture :D



Fold the other end this way (as seen in picture) - forming a triangle on top :D Just cut the ends so it will be even :-)


Ok there I have done few pieces :D


Now to show what I mean, I placed 4 hand-made photo corners onto a picture of my son :D

To make your own pages, just following the simple steps below ::
- Go to the following web site : http://www.global-language.com/CENTURY/
- Type in the word you would like to look up
- From the drop down list, select Dictionary Only, click Find Entry
- From the window that appears on the right, click on JPEG
- Right click the page and click Save Picture As... (saves it to your computer for future use) OR select Print Picture....
