Glittery Brads

While in Denmark visiting a fellow crafter, I played with her ordinary office brads since she has big bottles of glitters.  Few have asked how i do such altering and so on today's post I will discuss how it's being done.

Materials:

Plain office brads
Different colors of glitters
White strong glue
Small paint brush
Decoupage lack
Hard foam (to hold the brads during drying time)

Procedure:

1.  Dip a brad on your strong glue or pour a glue on the top of the brad.
2.  Sprinkle glitters and let dry for at least overnight.
3.  When it's dry, apply decoupage lack to make sure that glitters are really glued tight.
4.  Enjoy using your brad's!

Note:  Another way to color your brads is to use alcohol inks =)

Home Studio Box

I have created a home studio box way back 2009 as part of my National Craftt Month Entry and in my blog entry I had no time to include the step-by-step tutorial on how to make this.....I just had to link the tutorial at my other site but this day I have the inkling to post it here =)  This is not my original idea and I got it from Maria of Cards of Maria site.  She makes great cards and I envy her for having time almost everyday to create cards.  For now I still refrain from making cards but from time to time when the need arises I just have to.

Anyway here's how you do a home-made studio box so that when you take pictures of any of your creations, it will be more sharp and clean.

Materials Needed:

Box of your choice
Cutter
Double sided Tape
Thin plain white cloth or White Tissue Paper
White Matte Art Paper

Procedure:
Cut both sides of the box and the top part leaving an inch or 2 inches on every side.

Cover all the cut area with white cheese cloth or white tissue paper with the help of double sided tape.

On the inside, add white big art paper so when taking pictures you'll get a white background.

Easy isn't it?

My Ribbon Organizer last 2008

In the year 2008, this is how I organized my ribbons still in rolls.  I had not much ribbon that time so this kind of organizing is just perfect for me.  Finding the hanger with 4 layers was accidental and I know I bought 2 or 4 pcs in the Philippines.   I'm actually packing our spring and summer clothes coz it's time to prepare for the cold weather - it's really cold now but so far the grass, bushes, and trees are still green.  While packing I saw the hangers which once were my ribbon organizer.  With my growing ribbons this kind of storage is no longer applicable.  But, I still want to show you all how it looks like when I had very few rolls of ribbons on the year of 2008.

A Big Sorry BUT with a Good News :(

It has been months since I did posting here at my blogger site and to that I'm so sorry for myself and to all of you.  Although I have very few followers here as compared to my multiply site well both sites has been abandoned.  Everyone has its own reasons for doing this but in my case after our trip to Spain I got totally busy helping DH in his sadness then my son and I went to Denmark to visit a great fellow crafter who which became close to me since 2007.  We have never met in person but almost everyday we would talk at cyber and support each other in any of our endeavors.  Can you imagine the excitement i felt seeing her for the first time?  It was a lovely week with her and her whole family not to forget the trip to legoland  and lots of craft hunting and shopping everyday.

When we got back from Denmark I had to help DH in our companies to the point that I have to give up my crafting for a while.  My birthday passed and literally got lots and lots of packages all filled with craft goodies that I ever wanted.  Thanks to my sweet hubby =)

I was told by hubby the other day that I can be a SAHM mom again by next week but that statement changed yesterday evening.  I actually have to help him in our companies at least 2 hours everyday since we are in need of staff.  We have been unlucky in hiring people and as soon as our staffing is stable then I can be again SAHM.

Anyway, the good news is that the flowers I made using flower looms is a success.  Well, I have transformed those medium size flowers into brooches.  Guess what?  I got an order of 100pcs per color = 900 pcs!!!!  Duh?!  A store would like to have the brooches by start of Spring 2011.

Although it's a close deal already, I'm still negotiating the number of pieces.  I know myself and I will definitely be stressed in creating the flowers plus I get bored doing the same thing over and over again hahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahaha.

Crossing my fingers that they will agree on 30pcs per color but I have a feeling they will huggle to 50pcs per color hahahahahhahahahahahhahahaha.

Now, the samples you see in the picture are all sold out since I got back from Denmark trip.

Depression .... Anxiety

Bear with me as I take courage of writing down why I have been away and inactive in any of my sites.  I actually don't know how and where to begin as I sit and write this blog.

Am I in mid-crisis?  Nope =D

Depression and anxiety started before my "mammografi" (that's how we say it here i Sweden).  Aside from the fact that my mom died of breast cancer a decade ago, I just can't bear that there is a risk that I die and leave my DH and son behind :(

What really triggered my sadness is that ...... remember the wedding invitations I created for a client?
She had her breast surgery 2 weeks ago!!!

She had her mammo .... then after less than 2 weeks she got a letter stating about the findings - she has to go back and do a biopsy since they found something on her RIGHT breast.  She went back and had biopsy and the result was negative.  Then she was told that they will take an ultra sound on her chest/breast just to make sure.  Guess what?  They found 3 cysts on her LEFT breast and armpit which were not found during the mammo

Her wedding is on July 24th and we were invited.  It was a funny feeling finding an invitation inside our mailbox which I created =D

Anyway, my big question now is how accurate and reliable is mammo?  Why can't we just have an ultra sound which they say is clearer and accurate?  I asked them after my mammo but they couldn't give me an answer :(  All they say is that UL is just a complement to M.  I still don't get it.  Imagine, they did not see the lumps on her left breast during the mammo but found something on her right which was negative after all.  What if they did not see anything at all during the mammo?  That bride-to-be will still be going around everyday carrying a time bomb inside her body!

My mammo procedure went fine and a friend was with me that time.  I was told that results will be released after 4 to 5 weeks.  Gggggggggggggrrrrrrr the waiting game is such a pian in the butt!!!   Last friday as I checked our mailbox, I saw an envie and I was really shaking coz why would I get a letter from them so soon ... 2 weeks has just passed.  Oh well, I got the results and I'm clear.  Should I be happy?  yes I am happy =D  Should I doubt the results?  Kind'a!  I'd rather make an appointment for an ultra-sound this summer.

As of this writing I'm in a way back to my usual and I really Thank my husband for loving me during situations like this.  He showered me with craft goodies every now and then just to cheer me up.  He also made an appointment for general check-up and once again we thank God for the results were all clear except for one day with high blood pressure due to stress.  It was funny seeing him wearing an apparatus attached to his body for 24 hrs monitoring blood pressure.  He couldn't come near me fearing that blood-pressure will shoot up (wink, wink) hahahahahahaha.

Whew!  Now it's out of my chest and thanks for reading =D
